Good Morning Friends

I had my 2wk. check up yesterday and I am doing great! I can start sitting (which I haven't done in 2 wks) and start walking up to 1 mile a day. So, this morning I got up early (while it was cool) and did my first walk up one driveway and down another.
Boy, was I out of shape. Amazing what surgery can do to the body. I was playing sports 4 wks. ago. Now I am huffing and puffing. (giggling). Anyway, I feel like a new person. I got to see the x-rays of my back, wow all that hardware. I will have problems going through security at airports, that is for sure :).

Nolan's Birthday

Lillie had me do the post on the blog today. She may not let me do it again if I don't do it correct so I have to be careful. Today we celebrated my grandson's birthday. He had a big party with lots of kids from his baseball team. They had a water slide and it worked out well for as hot as it was today. He will be 9 in a couple of days. Where has time gone?

I must be getting better

Well, today is the first time I have sat in front of the computer, so that must mean I am getting better. I had a little set back last evening, increased pain in the legs, low b/p and high sugar. Today is a better day!!
It has been 10 days, and I sure can tell the difference. Take care everyone and have a very HAPPY FATHER'S DAY! LOVE ya'll

kids come for a visit

Sandy brought Aiden, James and Nolan over for a short visit. It is amazing how tired you get after just a few minutes. But Hank couldn't let them leave without having one of his famous cupcakes. Aiden's Favorite!!
They also brought me a cute teapot filled with colorful flowers.

Dean (Hank's bother) sent me this gorgeous phalawnopsis orchid....thanks Deano!

No Gross Pictures for you to view

I wouldn't want to gross anyone out. SO NO PICTURES! The surgery went fine on Thursday. I had a couple of complications such as Low Blood Pressure and kept fainting, and my glucose was high and had to have insulin. Both of these had improved by Sunday, so the Doctor released me to go home.
I am home and walking with my little ole granny walker. I am already to throw that thing in the trash. I might switch to a cane. My stomach is very sore..and looks like I am pregnant. The coolest thing is I grew 1".
I got to shower and wash my hair, I feel fantastic now. I gained 4 lbs. but had nothing by mouth until Sunday (that included ice chips) then a light came on, I suppose those cages, rods and screws could weigh something, huh.
I go see the Doctors in two weeks. I want to thank all my friends for prayers and encouragement. You have been awesome.

But you all can enjoy the beautiful flowers from my girls and sisters.

Sunday Morning

We have attended Church this morning, went to breakfast in the Lucas Tent then guess what??? It has started to rain! Hank and I are considering heading home shortly if the skies don't start clearing. This is the parking lot the owners and driver's park their RV's. You can see the NASCAR raceway in the background, also the rain!

Saturday at the Races

Karen has had some excellant race times, she is still in 3rd place. Greg's son Jimmy raced for the first time this weekend. Everyone from Karen's team gathered around him during his race to give him Great support. Unfortuntely, he did not qualify and headed home late Sat. night. We will be watching this young man because with Greg as his father, we know he is going to do great!

Louie's Chop House

This Crew just loves to eat...last night we went to chop house and had seafood and steak. There was Debbie & Doug, Joe & Barb (this couple has been so generous to us and given Hank another pass to go on the line), Karen & Gary, Jim, Greg and D.J.
Tomorrow Karen will qualify for the races.

Nascar

At the Chicago raceway, we are parked in a great spot. On one side of us, is the NHRA track, a dirt track and in front of us the NASCAR track. Debbie, DJ, Hank and I heard cars racing around the track and decided to walk over and see what's happening.
There apparently was a driver's school going on! We watched for a little while before getting run off by security.

Hank, Greg and Gary got the awning up (really windy too) plus getting all the stuff out of the semi. All set for race days!!!

Great day!

Monday afternoon

Debbie decided to take on a Hard Task! Me! We went to this great yarn warehouse, Mass Avenue Yarn Shop...it was huge. We bought me some yarn, needles and kit and headed home. Debbie was so patient and taught me the beginnings of knitting. I am making a scarf. Don't laugh now! I never said I was Miss Homemaker.

Jack's Boatyard Cafe

Monday we decided to go to the Boatyard for dinner. It was sitting on a beautiful lake and we enjoyed a great seafood dinner. We arrived just in time to see the sunset.Beautiful!

Indy, Chicago bound

Saturday, our friends Debbie and Doug arrived from Florida. Hank decided to go all out and cook the ribs from Memphis! I seasoned them differently so we could have different styles, wet & dry. Very good. They talked us into following them to Indy where we will spend a couple of nights at their place. Then head to Chicago for the NHRA races for next weekend. Debbie thought it would be good to get my mind off the surgery. My arm got twisted!!
Monday, we are in Indy at their beautiful shop. This is where they store and work on the motorcycle. They have 4 hook-ups here. It is very peaceful! Beautiful weather, and this morning...a touch on the cool side.
