Golfing with A.J. and Irene

Today, even though it is cool and windy we (tried) played golf with AJ and Irene. They are excellent golfers, whereas Hank and I are not so HOT. We had a great time chasing after that little white ball. Now, what is the point of this game again?

Christmas dinner at Valarie's

Dinner was fabulous! Mike had prime rib on the grille, Lillie brought corn casserole, Valarie had potatoe and all sorts of desserts.
Dinner wouldn't be complete without playing games. Anne, Steve, Irene, A.J.,Donna, Mike, Valarie, Gerry, Hank and myself played Charades and Bollerdash.
Great friends!

Christmas Eve Party

Christmas Eve was spent across the street at Zella and Harriet's RV. There were probably 50 people who all brought food. Valarie led the girls in singing Christmas carols. Hank and the boys stood by the fire talking politics.
375 illuminate lights were lit up and down the street. You can see our RV on the corner (barely). The show for the evening was the sunset!! It was gorgeous! God always amazes us by creating the most spectacular event of the evening.
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE AND HAPPY NEW YEARS.

Who's crazy??

Hank and I actually slept late this morning, 7:00am. I think that is the latest we have ever slept. Yes, Lillie actually played watervolley ball today. The die hards showed up!! The wind was blowing like crazy, which made hitting the ball really funny! We played for over 2 hours. Hank played golf. We went out to dinner, then did a little shopping.

Chili night at the Corbitt's on a rainy night

The day started off pretty nice and we played pickleball. As the day went on, it got overcast and cooler so I thought we would make some chili. I made so much, we decided at the last minute to ask over neighbors, Irene & AJ, Steve and Anne.
Very Yummy! After dinner, the girls went to Bingo! Anne won about $15.
Great time with friends.

Family Feud

Last night Hank and I both went out of our comfort zone!! We were asked to be contestants by our "so called" friends, to be on the game show Family Feud.
We were on opposite teams. The girls were called "Babes in Playland" and the boys were "Hillbilly Heartaches". But believe me when I say, the boys only gave us Heartburn instead of Heartaches. There was much laughter by the audience, and the answers were very funny!! The first contestants before us were dressed normal and very serious.
The girls won the big prize, $25. each! We beat all the teams. Lillie was in the final lightning round, she and Anne did great! We had cute names for our team too!
Rene, Margarette, Tiger Lily, Lorretta and Dominque. The boys were, Bubba, Bubba #2, Bubba #3, Bubba #4(hank), and Bubba #5 and Blue (Doggie they pulled around on a rope).

We finished the evening by alot of fun dancing and laughter. Merry Christmas Everyone.

Hank got his Christmas present a little early and is giving it a try today. This is a little smoker-grille that will fit in the basement of the RV. He is so excited and is cooking a pork loin today!! He has been watching the food chanel learning all about cooking. OH BOY!! Maybe that means I will be cooking less and less and him more and more!

Katherine's visit continues

After Katherine and Brian arrived, we went to a Mexican Restaurant for her BD dinner.
We taught them pickleball and played several games. We played peg and jokers, sequence and lots of Wii because it actually rained and cooled off Sunday.
Katherine and I did some shopping and Brian and Hank played golf.

This morning Katherine made a bowl in the pottery. We are now heading to Chandler for lunch then drop them off at the airport in Phoenix. I loved my visit so much.

Thursday, Dec. 4th.

This is a tough day for me, John passed away 4 years ago today. Thank God he sent me Hank. He is such a kind and understanding Husband. I want to Thank you all- all my friends and family for your support and love. I love you all!
The morning started early as usual. Today, after 2 weeks of not playing pickleball...I am going to try. Hank and I entered into a round robin. I lost 1, and won 6. YEAA!! Maybe I just needed to rest to improve my game. (haha) I also played water volleyball, then we drove down to Phoenix to watch the Coyotes play ice hockey. About 40 Palm Creek people road a cool bus. What a game!! 6-3. Returned around 10:30! Long day and finally it is over....good night

Thanksgiving Day

We had a very busy Thanksgiving Day! We started the day by playing pickleball at
8am. Then we went to the Santan Room for Thanksgiving lunch. It was pretty darn good.
After lunch, we watch Len Roberts perform for 2 hours. He impersonated Bob Hope, Red Skelton, Red Buttons, played instruments and sang. He was really awesome.
We finished up the evening going to Bob and Marlene's for desert. We played Pegs & Jokers, came home and went to bed.

Couples Pickleball round robin

For the last couple of Sundays, I haven't been feeling very well. So, I enlisted a friend of ours, Edie to play pickleball with Hank on Sundays. They have been having a great time playing.

Welcome Home Party

You know, I believe retirees use any excuse to have a party. Yesterday, the "welcome Home" party was just a get together of people in the park. There was a band and a place to dance. All food, beer, coolers, hot dogs etc..were $1. You got to meet department heads and learn about the new activities in the park.
I volunteered to blow up balloons that morning and there is a picture of 1/2 of them.
That was fun and got to meet some new people.
We had a nice time.
Later, Hank and Edie played partners in the couples pickleball round robin. They did great!!

It is shocking to see Hummingbirds in November but I really have been enjoying them.
Yesterday, we looked outside to see a Finch drinking the sugar water. It was cute!
I guess it is so dry, they need water too!

Pegs and Jokers

Last night we played Pegs and Joker, this was a learning night for Peggy and Jim.
Tonight we will get serious!! Rod and Jean just arrived in their RV Friday. Bob and Marlene are the only ones parking their RV and camped out in a new home until spring.
Alot of fun! See everyone Sunday!

I thought this was funny

Three weeks ago, we went to Home depot. They were selling tomato plants in October. I bought this little guy to put in with my flowers. Look how it has grown and has 5 tomato already showing. It is so weird. Here it is November 9th.

Volleyball social hour

While Hank is away, I attended social hour for all the Volleyball players and spouses. It is funny how different people look dressed up after only seeing them with their bathing suits.

Had a great time but forgot to take more pictures...sorry.

Hank heading for Tennessee

Sunday at 3:30am, I drove Hank to the airport. Lucky him! He gets to go home and I am stuck here with 90 degree weather, swimming, games, pickleball etc... what will he do at home??

He will return on Friday, I miss him already!

Wine and Cheese Party

Yesterday, Hank and Bob Rea played golf. When they returned, Hank had a new vocabulary in Golf. What is Bob doing to my Hank? The stories sounded like "fish stories."
Later in the evening, we went to a wine and cheese party around the pool. When we finished enjoying all the food, we went into the ballroom and heard 3 different comedians. We had a great time with Barb and Bob, and Jerry and Sue (which we celebrating their 44th anniversary).

Home Made Ice Cream

Hank and I have been so busy since we returned to Palm Creek, I haven't had the time to post anything. We play pickle ball at 7, golf, volleyball and then at night different games.
This past week, my volleyball team got together and had home made ice cream. The picture is of some of the guys I play with, believe me these old guys can slam the ball with the best of them!

Home at Palm Creek

We got home around 1pm, started unloading and some friends rode by on their bikes saying, "Lillie it is Volleyball time." So, I turned over the work to Hank and went and played for a couple of hours. It then has become busy busy busy. We had about 10 washes to do to catch up the 2 wks gone. But Hank and I have played pickleball every morning for 2 hours, volleyball, golf (yes golf)we chase each others balls around the course and look alot in creeks. (I now have a ball retriever). More picketball at night...then we crashed.

I got an exciting package from Ansley and Gabe...see the Plate they made for me sitting in the window. THANK YOU. You are the best grandchildren ever!! Grammie loves you.

The other picture is our winter home. Everything is all set up! I don't have to move again until we come home. Can you see the cute balloon flag on front I got at the balloon rally??

Sunday night-Monday morning

Driving through Apache Sitgreaves National Forest was gorgeous and we felt Fall in the air. The colors were fabulous! We stopped for the night at Hon Dah Casino. We ate at the buffet, which was horrible. We then played penny slots and I won $1.50. Later we play Pegs and Jokers with Bob and Marlene. I think the men's ego has gotten way out of hand winning. The temperatures dropped to 19 degrees. WOW. Driving the switchbacks through the mountains were slow...can you see Bob driving down the mountain?
We are back home at Palm Creek.

Sunday-travels home El Malpais National Monument

High winds cancelled our last day at the Balloon Rally, so we headed home following Marlene and Bob. We stopped in El Malpais. Lava rocks are everywhere and hardened lava flows covered the ground. We hiked a trail leading to atleast 8 lava falls, which is a whole in the ground like where Hank is standing. We then checked out the La Ventana Natural Arch.
