Glacier National Park, Montana

Last evening we met a local young man who told us about a graveled road through the park. So, this am we headed out....the 3 hr. drive had us on a one lane road, back where fire had burned trees, a beautiful river and lake, deer, and at the end a mercantile that had a bakery that was so far out it didn't have electricity. An old time stove that baked the best sticky buns! We had a great hike that ended walking up on a deer. Another great day. Tomorrow....Canada!!

Glacier National Park, Montana

This is day 3, and Hank and I hiked to Avalanche Lake. It was neat lake below several Glaciers. Water falls coming down the mountains. Quiet a Hike.

Enjoying a day with God's creatures

The most exciting part of our day was hunting for Bear. We came across a momma, and 2 cubs. We watched them for about 20 minutes eating berries, climbing trees and just playing with each other. Momma was always close by. (no bells btw).
Throughout our hike we saw deer, pairie dogs, chipmonks, rams on the mountainside and goats who followed us up the trail and don't let me forget the cow and some funny looking things like ground hogs, but hairy. This was a really long hike up to Hidden Lake at Logan Pass, 8765feet.

Glacier National Park, Montana

As soon as we arrived at the campsite, we ate lunch and headed over to Glacier. We have missed seeing this 3 years in a row due to smoke and fires. We didn't want to miss a minute. We hiked three trails: Lake McDonald, Avalanche and Tails of the Cedars. All were wonderful.

POLSON, MONTANA

The last couple of days with stayed on an Indian Reservation in Polson, Montana. Absolutely beautiful. We had a very relaxing time of the Flathead Lake, hiking and finding the out of way places such as the cool Kerr Dam. Buddy had a great time hiking with us. He slept great last night. I didn't know the ole dog still had it in him. Great Fun!

Today Hank celebrated his birthday! We had a wonderful day planned and it worked out great. We drove across the boarder, about 15 mins. away, and headed to Vancouver where we met up with Katherine and Brian. We drove down to the fisherman's warf and ate at a great restaurant on the waterfront. What a yummy dinner and fantastic company. I miss my girls and had fun!
Hank and Brian went for ice cream after dinner "HAPPY BIRTHDAY HANK".

A day in Seattle

Today Hank and I went to Seattle to see the Space Needle. Pretty cool! Then on the way home we saw there was a tour at the Boeing Plant, so we went. It was so interesting watching the assembly of those huge planes. The buildings were awesome! They had orders for more than 850 so the assembly lines were terribly busy. Out in the lot, planes finished lined the runway. We weren't allowed to take pictures in the building...or I would have take some. Notice the seaplane on the Puget Sound right in the middle of all those boats waiting for the draw bridge to raise.

Trip to Bremerton, Puget sound

Today we went to Bob's ole stompin grounds in Bremerton. We saw the Naval Shipyards just as you drove into town.
We drove along the Puget Sound, very beautiful. Also, we checked out Gig Harbor....obviously where all the fishermen hang out.
Very warm day in the high 90's, still NO RAIN!

Mt. Hood National Forest

Yesterday was a busy day! We decided to drive up to Larch Mountain along the Columbia River. Up at the top was unbelievable. We were able to see 5 mountain: Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Rainier, Mt. Adams, Mt. Hood, Mt. Jefferson. We were so glad we waited until today. The fog/haze cleared up early and the skies were blue. God truly created a spectacular sight for us, it was breath-taking.
