Thursday, Carson City

This morning, Gizmo got sick and ended up at the vets. She is sleeping most of the time and is starting to slow down at the age of 16.

On our way to swim lesson, the front yard was filled with Quail. 17 babies with mommy and daddy watching over them, sooooo cute!

We swam at Grammie's this afternoon and played Sequence.

Gabe wore his "Geico" badanna that Debbie gave him. Cool Dude!!

Wednesday-Carson City

Today we colored pictures for Aunt Katherine. They are in the mail! Next we went to swim class..what an improvement over yesterday. Look at Gabe and Ansley swimming under water!!

Tuesday....Carson City

After spending the night, Ansley and I drove over to her house. Mommy and Grammie got a massage!! Awesome!!
Later, the kids went to their swim lessons. In the afternoon, we went back to Grammie's Rv and went swimming again. Last night we met up with Friends at the Fandango Casino. We had an enjoyable Italian dinner with Peggy, Kim & Mike, Karen, Debbie and Doug. (Katherine, we had GELATO for desert,remember our Italy trip?)

Monday....Carson City

Monday was catch up on my sleep day! Then we drove down to Reno for a little shopping. When we returned the kids came over for a little swim, then Ansley spent the night with Grammie. Ansley says, "see my new jewerly!"

Girl Scout weekend in Sierra Mountains

Eight girls, 3 Mom's head off for the Sierra Mountains in California for a Girl Scout weekend. We made candles, made crafts, hiked the river creek, went swimming (in freezing cold water), cooked over the open fire, we sang loads of songs, did skits,slepted in tents and ate great food. What a wonderful weekend with my grand-daughter, Ansley and Rebecca (my daughter). The picture in the brown shirts was taken right before we left to come home.... Exhausted!

2nd day in Carson City

Another long day for Grammie, we went to look at a trailer for Rebecca and GScouts to decorate for a parade. We took measurements etc. I know Rebecca with her artistic abilities will have the BEST float.
Then we picked up kids at VBS, see the shirts Grammie made with Rebecca's help?
We had hot dogs for lunch at the RV, kids got 2nd day present. We went swimming!
Kids got a hair cut, see the cute picture? We had Mexican at Rebecca's, then anoter walk up to the local college. Home to bed for Grammie!
I won't write until Monday, Rebecca, Ansley and Grammie are going on a GS. camping retreat!! OH BOY!! until then.

1St Day in Carson City

Rebecca and I painted t-shirts for the kids, then went to Cosco. Later in the morning we went and picked up the kids at VBS. I brought them back to RV we played Wii, then went swimming in the pool.
Later this evening we ate dinner together at Rebecca. After dinner, I played Barbie then we all took a walk to the park.
Very nice evening...what's up tomorrow????

Salt Lake to Carson City

Hank and I drove past the Salt Lake, through the Salt Lake Flats then on to Carson City. After we arrived, we took a walk at the Park up the street and a new Casino across the street from our campsite. We only lost $5.00.

Leisure day in Salt Lake

Our last day in Salt Lake, we decided to clean the house, do grocery shopping, then go to see a movie "Dark Knight", which was very disappointing, then finally we ate diner at the "Red Iguana." We have watched people line up here every night and we decided after movie to give it a try. Excellent Mexican food!!

Tomorrow we start our drive to Carson City...YEA! Here comes Grammie!!

Hill Aerospace Museum, Ogden, Utah

Hank and I decided this was best Air Force museum we have every walked through. More than 60 planes, plus misles, bombs, history of uniforms, women in flight, and much more. Inside the museum there was a rare B-17, P-38s, SR-71, JN-4, MIG 21, Mrs. L.B. Johnson plane which flew her around the country. We had an awesome time here.

Union Station, Ogden, Utah

Hank and I drove about 30 miles north of Salt Lake to Ogden. Another quaint town of Mormons who settled there around 1820. In 1870's the railroad came through and there are tracks everywhere. There were several trains located around the station, a museum, restaurant, and theater. Very cool.

Tracy Aviary

My morning started off with one of our a/c not working. With 99 degrees forecast for this afternoon, I started calling service centers. Nothing till Monday. Our friends Debbie and Doug were getting ready to depart for Reno and Doug came to our rescue. He just happened to have an extra capacitor he was carrying for his Monaco, just in case. What a blessing!!!Hank had checked it out and climb up on the roof and replaced it...COLD AIR!

Then I went to the farmers market and got a few veggies and checked out the locals wares.

Finally, we drove over to Liberty Park to the Tracy Aviary. Lots of birds you can walk up to and feed, or just sit and watch them in a pond or let them perch and eat out of your hand. It was very hot but worth the visit.

Kennecott's Bingham Canyon Mine

18 million tons of copper has been mined in the "Richest Hole on Earth" since 1906.
Of course, vast quantities of gold, silver and other material have been unearthed too. Notice how little the man is on the side of that equipment. Those 320 ton haulage trucks are HUGE. We went with Debbie and Doug again, watched a video, it was very interesting.

Trolley Square

Yesterday afternoon, Hank and I went to Trolley Square. In the late 1800's this was actually a depot, they now have turned into a shopping mall. The water tower is from that era and the trolley is too! We didn't buy anything, just walked around.

Tabernacle Choir

We met a nice couple here at the park, Debbie and Doug that rode with us to Temple Square. We went to hear the Tabernacle Choir practice for Sunday Service. There are over 340 volunteers singing plus the Orchestra. We also took a little tour on the top of the Conference Center, where there is a 4 acre park with waterfalls and beautiful landscaping. The auditorium holds over 21,000 people.

Park City, Utah

I thought I would carry the torch! Notice: I had a jacket on, it was cool today,but no snow!

Park City Utah

Salt Lake City hosted the Olympics in 2002. During the summer they ski off turf down into a swimming pool. Thought you might enjoy watching a young girl ski, flip and then fall into the pool.

The other slopes we watched the people trying out for the winter olympics. They ski- jump way into the air. They are skiing on a turf-like material with water keeping it wet.

Pioneer Memorial Museum-State Capitol

This museum had the world's largest collection of artifacts from the era of the Pioneers. There were portraits, guns, quilts, flags, furniture, books, wagons, dolls and everything you can imagine the Pioneers carried in their wagons. There were 4 floors of history! I really enjoyed walking through history.

Then we climbed up a few steps to the State Capitol Building to see if their government was running up to par.

Alta, Utah

Hank wanted to see his ole stomping grounds where he use to ski. So, we drove over to Alta and there still was some snow sprinkled on the mountains. Very pretty!

Family Research Center

Today Hank dropped me off at the Family Research Center. I am trying to find some history on the Corbitts'. I spent several hours searching, but didn't find very much.
I still have this darn sinus infection and I think it is affecting my thinking.

Salt Lake

Today after Church, we decided to go see the "Great Salt Lake". I was very disappointed, first the smell (yuck) but once you were in the water, the breeze kept the odor away. It was so strange to see this huge salty water in the middle of a desert. Anyway, I can check another thing off my list of "things to see!"

Salt Lake-The Gateway

Last night Hank and I went downtown the Gateway. It is an Old Railroad depot, turned into a huge shopping mall. We walked all around the mall looking at pretty water fountains and beautiful walking park behind the shops.

Temple Square-Salt Lake City, Utah

Temple Square-I really didn't know much about the Later Day Saints, until today. I walked around the square, toured Brigham Young's house, Beehive House. Sat in their Tabernacle and listened to the fantastic accoustic sounds of the huge Organ.
We walked the beautiful grounds, with flowers and fountains everywhere. Even though our beliefs are different, their history was interesting.
Speaking of history: they have one of the Largest Family History Library in the world. I plan on spending a few days there working on my Geneology tree on Monday.

Flaming Gorge-Wyoming

This is truly wild country,91-mile Flaming Gorge Reservoir, with snow cap mountains in Utah in the background, and red rock formation all around the Lake. We sat up our chairs on the beach and right behind us a herd of Elk. The water was beautiful, we could see the fish, it was so clear.

We enjoyed lapping up the sun and a nice picnic. What magnificent creations God made for us to enjoy!

Budweiser-Fort Collins

Tuesday, we visited the local Budweiser plant and did the tour. We visited the horses and watched the beer being brewed. Tomorrow we are leaving, heading towards Salt Lake City, Utah.
