Charleston, S.C. YORKTOWN

Hank and I headed for Patriots Point, a Naval and Maritime Museum. We boarded the Yorktown Aircraft Carrier, the Laffey destroyer, and the Ingham Coast Guard Cutter. What made it really special this weekend, there were Naval servicemen to show you around the ship in their uniforms, very cool!

On board the Yorktown, they had a museum about other Aircraft Carriers, the USS Block Island (Pappys' ship) was honored.
Over the Memorial Weekend, remember Dad, his Aircraft carrier was the only one that sunk in the Atlantic Ocean during WWII.

Have a great Holiday weekend.

Charleston, South Carolina

We have been so lucky on the weather. It has just been beautiful. We arrived at a very nice campsite, and lo and behold some friends we met in Savannah, from California are here. We are adjusting very nicely to our new home. The pups and kitty seem to be adapting to the lazy life too!

Today we took a 1hour boat ride out to Fort Sumter. For you history buffs, this is where the Civil War actually started...very cool.
The place is still standing in the middle of the water built by slaves who put granite down then built the fort over it.

Tomorrow we are thinking about investigating the ships in the Harbor, an Aircraft Carrier, a Destroyer and cutter. Until tomorrow. Love and miss you guys!

Salty Dogs

The kids went to Folly Field beach to catch some waves and work on their tans. They had a good time just strolling the beach and checking out all the other dogs that are allowed until Memorial Day.

The official public apology

David, my brother has for 50 years reminded me how I intentionally burned the palm of his hand with a car cigarette lighter. Ok..I admit it! I did do it on purpose! I was jealous of my little brother getting all my attention from Mom and Dad but it backfired and you just got more attention. Now, 50 years later David, let it go! Nobody cares anymore, you can't hardly even see it, everybody look real hard, do you see it?
It is time to say it, I am sorry David for burning your hand. A public apology! What more could you ask for, you are the center of attention, again. AMEN. Your loving sister, Lillie

Dinner with the McNairs, Hilton Head

We had a wonderful evening with my brother David and family. Trey and Laura had exams this week, but Trey took time out to show me how to operate Paper Mario, a new Wii game. Laura informed me of the sad news of her horses' injured leg but the positive side is she hopes to work with her trainer riding other horses this summer until her horse gets better. Pepi made a wonderful dinner and was a great hostess as usual. After dinner, Hank and I walked down to the dock, looked out over the water, and watched the sunset. What a loving evening with the McNairs...Thank you!

Sea Pines Plantation, Hilton Head S.C.

Today we took our bikes to Sea Pines Plantation, rode several miles and walked around the light houes. It was a great day weather wise and we had lunch at the Salty Dog. 'Fish and Chips' for me and a salad for Lillie.

Fort Pulaski, Tybee Island, Georgia

This was an awesome place to visit. During the civil war, the Confederates held this fort until the Union soldiers finally knocked down a wall and the Confederates surrendered. The tour was great given by a National Park Ranger, and they shot a cannon off in the square. The history was amazing and to be standing there surrounded by fallen soldiers' graves from the Civil War was sad. All the prisioners used as human shields, and the jails inside the walls, such History.

Tomorrow we head up to Hilton Head Island, S.C. Hank will be very happy to have all his communications back. He has felt lost without email, telephone and satelite. We have been "Lost in Space." Until then....bye

Old Savannah Tours

Thanks to Katherine and Marriott Courtyard, Hank and I took a great tour on a trolley through Savannah. We had a great tour guide named Jim. We stopped at the River Street Market Place, had a bite of lunch, then ate a fantastic Praline!
All you girls scouts, I saw Juliette Gordon Low's House! Plus the house where Garden of Eden was filmed.

5-17 Today we ventured to Tibee Island. Walked on the beach, I had made a picnic lunch which was Great! Viewed the Lighthouse. Visited the batteries and Fort Paulaski. The smoke is terrible all over the area from Waycross,Ga. where the fires are burning. But it didn't dampen our fun of exploring.

Savannah Ga.

This is my nephew Trey playing roller blade hockey. This is the game for the finals.

With dad, David proudly standing beside Trey after a nail biting game down by 2, 5 minutes left. The Strikers came back and won in overtime for first place.
Enjoyed dinner with Pepi, Trey and my brother David at Carey Hiiards Seafood Resturant.

Wind Creek State Park, Alexander City, Ala.

You might think Hank and I must be really bored!!!
Or you might think think we are really getting old!!
But to a MCNAIR- a challenge is a challenge and we won a set of plastic dishes for the RV playing B I N G O

A Night on the town!

Alexander City, Alabama

If you are wondering what is in the great city of Alexander City, "Russell Athletics". Those of you that know Hank are aware that all he wears are pocket-tees from Russell. So, here we are standing in front of the outlet store after our shopping spree.
He had to throw away some clothes to be able to replace them with new ones because space is too precious. Oh well, we had a great time and I am wearing my new pink shirt.

Lillie and Hank in front of their new Home

For some of you that haven't seen our new RV (new home)..here we are and the Jeep attached behind us.

Farewell to our ole home

May 1,2007

Hank and I finally said farewell. We are finally full-timers, YEA! We stopped along the way at Camping World, and met a couple, Kent and Nancy Miller. They were at the Rally in Perry, Ga. and as of last Friday, they became full-timers too! They were from Sebring, Florida and were heading to North Dakota. Hope to keep in touch with them.

We are in Buddy Gregg's parking lot, waiting for repairs tomorrow. Probably spend the weekend here and then heading to Alabama Monday.
